When it comes to conservation economics is often a key player isn’t it?

    • justdan93 July 7, 2012 at 3:45 PM #

Sure.Economics always calculates the opportunity cost of doing any action!Example: Preserving the natural reservations is one important factor that may affect decision to build or not a factory. Here role of government is also very important!

  31. palomasharma July 7, 2012 at 6:02 PM #

I like your blog a lot. When I entered college I thought I was going to be an economics major, I has taken AP Econ in high school and loved it. I’m probably not going to major in Econ, nothing against the department I just have other interests. But I still love economics and this blog is just what I need to fulfill my love for the subject, thanks!

  61. Dorje July 10, 2012 at 11:53 AM #

I think it’s interesting that you decided to follow my blog since you’re an economist. Glad my rampant, girly thoughts can cater to some modicum of your personality. I’m just going to choose one of your posts that makes the most sense to me and “like” it so we can get some good comment karma going… I’m economics/business illiterate so this might take a while…

  62. truethresholds July 10, 2012 at 12:40 PM #

I think I’ve stumbled upon the most relevant blog of my life.
I highly appreciate your effort invested in a subject that bore many but is one of the most interesting of all.
Because I teach Economics myself, I think I’d be giving your blog a thorough reading to make my lectures more interesting and accurate.
    Keep it up!

    • justdan93 July 11, 2012 at 1:17 AM #

Yes it is an economic activity.

  71. craftythriftydecoratingwifemom July 11, 2012 at 5:17 AM #

I have to say I am not at all math savvy and beyond managing our household finances as best I can, economics is at the opposite end of my spectrums of understanding and interest. But I give you credit for being able to do these things. Best wishes in your future career.

I also love the Freakonomics books and am a Six Sigma blackbelt, so I will enjoy reading your blog and may even suggest an idea or too for things you could write about. Good luck in your endeavors!

    • justdan93 July 23, 2012 at 12:49 AM #

Thanks! That would be very nice!

  123. cfandthecity July 23, 2012 at 12:48 AM #

I think its great that your so passionate about this! It’s refreshing to hear someone enjoy the principal of the economy rather than just complaining about it all the time. You ask for ideas of things to write about…here’s one. In my blog I wrote a sarcastic article about Facebook and made a comment about how it’s not really helping the economy.
    http://cfandthecity.wordpress.com/2012/07/20/i-dont-care-what-you-did-after-high-school-2/
Not sure if this is true or not. But I thought it would be interesting if you posted about whether or not Facebook is helping/hurting the progress of the economy. Hope you like the idea!

  148. grumpytyke July 25, 2012 at 2:31 PM #

Hello Dan. I see you speak Romanian. Where is that from? I speak it too (I’m English), from more than 11 years living there (during which time I was teaching English, managing a few projects – eg about the decorated eggs you’ll find on my blog – and I acquired a Romanian wife!). I’ll be going there for a short visit next weekend. I don’t know much about economics, though a few things on your excellent site ring a bell with me as in the past I’ve been a marketing director/consultant, an expertise which I used in the projects in Romania.

    • justdan93 July 25, 2012 at 5:09 PM #

Nice to meet you. Actually, Romanian is my native language, since i was born in Republic of Moldova! Romanian girls are extremely cute i also know it. You definitely have a very interesting life story.

      • grumpytyke July 27, 2012 at 7:01 PM #

Hi again. I have been over the Prut a couple of times (another interesting story) and you’re right about the girls, of course – Romanian, Moldovan and southern Ukraine – all, many Romanians would say, part of Romania. Next Tuesday morning I arrive in Iasi, not many kilometres from Moldova of course, for a couple of weeks. Wonderful!

      • justdan93 July 27, 2012 at 7:46 PM #

You are lucky. I’ve never been to Romania. I’ve visited many countries, but this one i didn’t. You have another project to do there or just a small visiting trip?

      • grumpytyke July 27, 2012 at 8:27 PM #

Really just a short visit, to my in-laws and many Romanian friends. However, there is a ‘project’: to refresh my memories of a wonderful country and people and so to get the inspiration for another ‘story’, short or long (and maybe to improve the first one, which I put on my blog).

Hey Dan – I’ll follow you with interest – I’m puzzled about what the hell is going on in our Western economies – it’s all very much doom and gloom at the moment here in the UK, so I’d like to have some further insight. Also thanks for liking my post!

Wow, economics? Just a couple weeks ago I completed a very challenging Economics course in my MBA program and I can’t believe anyone would “choose” to do this for a living. Hahaha…that just means I didn’t get it. Not sure how I made a B-, but I’ll take it and I’m glad it’s over. Could have used this blog for help though, that’s for sure and will follow in case you provide guidance that can help in my other courses. Thanks and happy bloggin’ to ya!

By the by: my knowledge of and in economics is horrible, to state it in a rather modest way. As for my Turkish, however, I claim otherwise (as a native speaker) and wonder, if you read any of my Saturday posts (i.e. old poems in Turkish, real old poems -unrevised). At any rate, I should not occupy your blog site more than necessary. I wish you happy blogging one more time.

  173. gonerustic July 31, 2012 at 1:44 AM #

I’m not an economist, although I have some strong views on the economy and its problems … I think when we disassociate COMMUNITY from economic planning and decisions, we invite trouble, and this to me is the root of today’s problems, on both corporate (i.e. organisational) and individual (e.g. ‘high rollers’ who only want to line their own pockets) levels. That’s my rant for today! =D

  174. TarekOfCairo July 31, 2012 at 2:24 AM #

Justdan93, your visit to my page intrigued me. 🙂 Just reading that you enjoy econometrics, took me back to Business School days studying econometrics – Autocorrelation, Heteroscedasticity, and the importance of random variables in economics. It also took me a while before I was marked ‘passed’… but I did not give up! 😉 Thanks for visiting my ‘random’ site. 🙂

  209. jsnapp62 August 11, 2012 at 1:42 AM #

I’d like to thank you for following my blog Words with a Message. I am not an economics person per se but I did follow Crown Ministries with Larry Burkett and his advice on budgets and getting out of debt when he was alive.(died 2003) He used common sense and Biblical practices to get out of debt and stay out. It took one year to get on a good budget and another three to get out of debt BUT it worked and I have been debt free for over seven years. Larry was a wonderful and caring advisor and I miss his input in my finances to this day. The site still has all his plans and most of his advise in archives. I’m sure if you are interested they would let you share on your blog site.
